Nice video

A nice video here with a few of the best sport Taekwon-Do athletes in Europe.
Katya Solovey announced her retirement this week, which is unfortunate for the rest of us as she is pretty much the most exciting and technical fighter out there. I imagine this means she'll be doing more of the seminar circuit, so there's a silver lining. Anyway, the vid:

National Champions.

last weekend we sent a small team to represent HX at the I.N.T.A. national championships. The competition was, as usual, incredibly well run.

Michael got the silver in a large patterns division against some quality competition. Mark, James and Michael were all in the same sparring category, -80kg red belt, and did the dojang proud as James won two fights to take home bronze, while Mark won a tough final battle to take the gold.

Sam took silver (and about fifty heavy side kicks into his guard) in the heavyweight final against the indomitable John Moffitt. John is going on to represent Ireland in the World championships this weekend, all at HX wish him the very best of luck.

HX instructor Mr. O’Reilly (yours truly) took gold in the -80kg black belt sparring division for the second year in a row.

Next up is the NITA Dublin Open on November 2nd, followed by the RITA Irish Open on the 30th.

Two more reds.

Another two red belt gradings this month. Caoimhe graded to red belt and James graded to black tag, the last grading he can take here in our Dojang.

It is very exciting to see students enter this last phase of training before the black belt, and all of a sudden one year seems like a very short time to get the necessary training completed. Hard work, dedication and continuous forward motion will do the trick though, as it always does.

New classes for 5-8 year olds.

Starting from Tuesday the 17th of September we will have new classes dedicated to instructing 5 to 8 year olds. The new time will, hopefully, better suit the evening schedules for our younger members and their parents, and also allow the older kids class to run more smoothly.
Our current members in that age bracket can continue attending their regular classes, or switch to the new times if it suits.

If you have a child aged between 5 and 8 and would like them to begin training in our martial art, please contact me through the inquiry form to the right ->
or on 0872474488 (Stuart).

Timetable and fees can be found here.
